About Me
Kathryn McMahon, MSW, LSWAIC
Call me Katy (she/they). I am a licensed independent clinical social worker associate (LSWAIC). I received my MSW from the University of Montana in 2025. I've lived and worked in different parts of the US as well as abroad. I love to travel, hike with my dog, cook, read spooky books, kayak, and get new tattoos.

I decided to pursue a career in therapy for several reasons. When I was teaching preschoolers, parents would seek me out for support and guidance beyond my work with their children. I found that I enjoyed supporting them as much if not more than teaching. In addition, I was with my husband when he decided to transition. Supporting him through this allowed me to witness trans joy up close and see how him becoming his truest self enriched his life and our relationship. Last but not least, after living with debilitating symptoms for over a decade, I was finally diagnosed with a chronic illness that required life-changing surgery. It was my experience of working with a therapist during this emotional time that helped me understand how powerful and necessary this kind of support is. After healing, I knew that I wanted and needed to help others who were struggling.

A pinecone aficionado.
